NATIONAL HISTORY PROJECTS
DIGITAL HISTORY PROJECT
This project was made possible through the generous funding of Digital Museums Canada. In partnership with Capital Heritage Connexion (CHC), Black Legacy Collective (BLC) is collecting and preserving histories about Black presence from communities, Black & Indigenous Elders and cultural leaders to strengthen intergenerational knowledge and community resilience. This work is based on the Ontario curriculum for Ottawa schools but will also inform education nationally and will strengthen cultural memory and community involvement in their own histories.
Impact
By integrating the BLC project into Ottawa elementary and high school education, it allows for an inclusive and holistic representation of Canadian history. This project aims to ensure that the wisdom, struggles, and achievements of Black peoples across Canada are celebrated, remembered, and passed down, ensuring the past is remembered, the present is inspired and the future is inclusive.
